News:- The forest authorities of Satpura Tiger Reserve has released the information about their ongoing planning of on boarding elephants from various camps in Karnataka.

 

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Three more elephants will be added to the current elephant population in the Satpura Tiger Reserve in the Narmadapuram district. These elephants will set their journey via road route from the Karnataka camps within two to three months.

 

As per the report of the Field Director L Krishnamurthy, recorded by the Free Press, “We are planning to bring three more elephants after two to three months”. The estimated cost of bringing one elephant from Karnataka is somewhere between Rs. 10-15 lakhs.

 

The Satpura Tiger Reserve currently houses 10 elephants, and it will be increased to 13 on the arrival of the three elephants. 

 

The primary purpose of this initiative is to maintain a close surveillance on the big cats of the Satpura Tiger Reserve. The highly trained elephant riders have further provided the training to staff of the Satpura Tiger Reserve on how to skillfully tame these elephants to master their job of constant monitoring work.
