Best Time to Visit Satpura National Park

The optimal time to visit Satpura National Park is from November to May, which marks the peak tourist season. Although the park is open for safari activities from October to June, the weather during the peak season is particularly pleasant, offering an enhanced opportunity to spot tigers.

Winter - November to February (8℃ - 29℃)

Needless to mention the winter season is the most comfortable season to embark on a jeep safari. It is quite cold in the early morning safari that operates from 6:30 am to 10:30 am in winter. Warm and woollen clothes are mandatory to carry during the winter season while heading for an early morning safari in Satpura National Park. The afternoon safari from 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm is more soothing beneath the gentle warmth of the sun. However, it is better to carry light woollen layers. Both the core and the buffer zones are perfect for exploring wildlife through jeep safari. In addition to wildlife spotting, the winter season is the best time for bird watching in Satpura National Park.

Summer - March to June (22℃ - 44℃)

Although the temperature soars high during the summer season, it is the most suitable time for sighting wildlife. As the vegetation dries up in the simmers, the wild inhabitants are easily spotted. Tourists primarily flock to Satpura in the summer to spot tigers and other big cats. The early morning safaris from 6:00 am -10:00 am are the most comfortable ones and perfect to avoid the scorching sun before the day rolls in. The afternoon safari from 2:30 pm - 6:30 pm proves to be exhausting and it is advisable to keep yourself hydrated and carry essentials like scarves or hats and wear light-coloured and comfortable fabrics.

Off-season in Satpura National Park

Monsoon - July to September (28℃ - 40℃)

The most important thing to note is that the park is closed during the monsoon season from July to September due to the heavy rains and flooding. However, not all the safari zones are closed. The buffer zones continue with the jeep safari activities.  However, the national park’s management authorities might limit the number of jeeps and visitors allowed at one time to reduce disturbance to wildlife and maintain Satpura’s ecological balance.
